No Reason For Crosby To Be Ashamed

NHL online betting players had Pittsburgh as a solid candidate to repeat as Stanley Cup champions, and a major reason for that is their captain, Sidney Crosby.  However, like his counterpart Alex Ovechkin, his season was ended by a hot Montreal team.

Crosby finished second in the regular season in points to Vancouver’s Henrik Sedin with 109, while tying with Tampa Bay’s Steven Stamkos for the league lead with 51 goals.  He leaves the playoffs second to Chicago’s Jonathan Toews in points with 19, and 14 of those came in the first round in a six-game win over Ottawa.  However, he struggled against the Canadiens, notching a goal and four assists in the seven-game upset, with a plus/minus rating of -1.  The star was frustrated by the defensive duo of Hal Gill (who won the Stanley Cup with Crosby and the Penguins last season) and Josh Gorges, and he was an uncharacteristic -2 in the seventh game.  Crosby looked tired by the end of the series, and he should be.

Not only did he have another brilliant season in the NHL, but there was his exploits in the Olympics, scoring the shootout winner against Switzerland in the round-robin, and then he notched the game-winning goal in overtime against the United States to win the gold medal on home soil.  There was more pressure on Crosby, the wunderkind of Canadian hockey, than anyone else on the team beside Roberto Luongo (playing in the rink where his Canucks play), and it’s no surprise that he’s burnt out.  Don’t worry though, because the Penguins will be a betting favorite for the Stanley Cup again next year.
